Why Does BetterHistory Retain 90 Days of History Records?
BetterHistory does not save or store your browsing history—it simply provides an advanced way to manage Chrome’s built-in history system.
🔍 How Chrome Handles Browsing History
By default, Google Chrome retains only the last 90 days of browsing history. This is done to:
✔ Optimize performance by keeping Chrome fast and responsive.
✔ Reduce storage usage on users' devices.
✔ Enhance privacy by limiting the amount of personal data stored locally.
Since BetterHistory relies on Chrome's existing history system, it inherits this 90-day retention limit.
🚀 Future Plans to Extend History Retention
We understand that some users may want to retain their history beyond 90 days.
🛠️ Planned Feature:
We are exploring options to allow users to store history records for a longer period. However, this would require saving data on a server, which could raise privacy concerns.
🔒 Security First:
Our goal is to find a secure and privacy-focused way to extend history storage without compromising user data.
Until then, users can export their history as CSV or HTML files for long-term retention.
BetterHistory is committed to enhancing your browsing experience while ensuring privacy and data security. 🚀
